Awana — The name Awana is an acronym that stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. It is taken from the Bible in 2 Timothy 2:15 which says, “Do your best to present yourself to God as an approved worker who has nothing to be ashamed of, handling the word of truth with precision” (ISV). As one of the fastest growing children’s organizations, Awana provides a local church sponsored program for boys and girls of all ages. Our hope is that all our club members will develop faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, and then build on that foundation to become obedient servants of God and strong leaders in the church.
The Awana program at First Baptist Church is staffed with volunteers who have been chosen for their commitment to Jesus Christ and their love for children. Our program is for children pre-kindergarten through 6th grade and meets once a week. Please call the church office at 928-524-2555 to confirm the seasonal scheduling.
Operation Love – Was started back in 1975 and at the time two cans of food each week to each family. Today God has provided the means for us through the United Food Bank of Mesa and our church family as well as other donations from other organizations to feed anywhere from 85-125 families each week. We are registered with Navajo County as a food distribution agency. Operation Love is open to the public every Saturday from 9:00-9:30 a.m. Our volunteers prepare the food bags each Friday for that Saturday.
Women's Ministry- We offer many wonderful opportunities to learn and grow spiritually while getting connected with other women. Please call the church office at 928-524-2555 to confirm the scheduling.
Men's Ministry- Meets for Bible study and we teach and live spiritual accountability. The Men serves the elderly and widows of the church. Please call the church office at 928-524-2555 to confirm the scheduling.
