Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a member to attend?

No, we welcome everyone to our worship services. We want to make sure that everyone has a relevant and meaningful worship experience with us regardless of whether they are a member or not.

What denomination is this church?

First Baptist Church of Holbrook is a Southern Baptist affiliated church that operates independently of any denominational control. By partnering with Southern Baptists for missions and other world-wide ministry efforts, we are able to offer not only our community, but other communities a culturally relevant worship experience as laid out in God’s Word.

First Baptist Church affirms historic Baptist doctrine and the statement of faith outlined in the Baptist Faith and Message

What is your worship service like?

Worship is a celebration of our daily lives and relationship with God. Our music style is modern, relevant and focused on God’s glory.

What kind of sermon will I hear?

Our pastor speaks in terms that are easy to understand. What you learn on Sundays will be useful for your Mondays as well as the rest of your week!

What about my children?

One of the most critical concerns for parents is finding a church that will help build great moral character and values in the lives of their children. Here at First Baptist Church we provide a safe environment where boys, girls  and teens can learn principles from the Bible that will help them make wise choices, and give them anchors for life. Our teaching team of caring adults is committed to making children’s experiences fun and exciting, but also meaningful and relevant to their everyday lives.

What should I bring for my children?

Parents of Babies through 2-Year-Olds should bring a diaper bag containing diapers, wipes, bottle or cup (if needed), a change of clothing, and any other necessary items. Please write your child’s name on all items.

What should I wear?

When you enter the doors of our church, you will find people dressed in everything from casual clothes to dresses and suits. Come as you are...we are more interested in who you are rather than what you wear!

How do I join First Baptist Church of Holbrook?

Our church welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds. Becoming a member of our congregation, however, is an important commitment. We require an individual to accept and confess Jesus Christ as his or her personal Lord and Savior in order to join our fellowship. We offer this opportunity at the end of our worship service in the following ways:

  1. As a candidate for baptism. We baptize by immersion.

  2. By transfer of letter from another Baptist church. We will ask your previous church to send us a letter indicating that you are a member in good standing. Your membership with that church will then transfer to First baptist Church of Holbrook.

  3. By statement of your faith. Upon statement of your Christian experience in a church that is no longer in existence or not Baptist, we will welcome you and baptize you by immersion if you have not previously been immersed.
